Samsung and Evrythng, the U.K.-based outfit that is trying to build an identity management layer for the internet of things, have revealed a partnership that involves an investment from Samsung Ventures Investment Corporation.

September E-mini S&Ps (ESU14 +0.30%) this morning are up +0.41% at a fresh record high and European stocks are up +1,24% at a 1-3/4 month high after Russia and Ukraine discussed steps toward a cease fire.

Samsung has bought SmartThings, the startup that makes smart-home controllers. While the companies did not disclose the price, sources said the South Korean consumer electronics giant paid about $200 million.

Apple and Samsung are making peace — at least outside the United States. In a surprise move late Tuesday, the two companies said they were dropping all litigation outside the country.

We have all heard people say it. “They missed the boat on mobile”, “It is a good product but Apple and Samsung own the market.”, or “What else can possibly be done with cellphones? We have reached the maximum level of innovation possible!”

Wearable technology usually evokes images of Google Glass or fitness-tracking wristbands such as the Jawbone UP or FitBit Force. Or perhaps the Polar H7, Nike Fuel bands, Samsung’s Galaxy Gear or Apple’s iWatch come to mind. But wearable technology is quickly evolving into something entirely different.
