I wanted to find 5 Large Caps with good momentum so I used Barchart to sort the S&P 500 Large Cap Index stocks for the ones with the most frequent new highs in the last month, then used the Flipchart feature to review the charts.

Most of the strength in the housing market is coming from multi-family units (up +28.9%) instead of more traditional single family residences (up +8.3%).

Today I sorted the S&P 400 Mid Cap Index to find the stocks with the best technical indicators and charts.

The average large cap score pops to 59.86 this week, moving it above the four week moving average score of 58.23. The average large cap is trading -10.5% below its 52 week high, 2.78% above its 200 dma, has 4.09 days to cover held short, and is expected to post EPS growth of 13.96% next year.

The average large cap score is 56.92 this week, below the four week moving average score of 60.90. The average large cap is trading -11.22% below its 52 week high, 2.49% above its 200 dma, has 3.93 days to cover short, and is expected to grow earnings by 14.06% next year.

Last week we saw sector bunching around the average universe score, which is typical at inflection points. Scores have rolled to reflect the shift to Q2 seasonality, so watch sector and industry ranks closely over the coming weeks.
