Frontier Communications' Shares Surged With Acquisition Of AT&T's Connecticut Wireline Operations

Frontier Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:FTR) operates a telecommunications network across 27 states and is the largest provider of communications services focused on rural America. The company offers broadband, wireless internet data access, data security solutions, and more. 

Today, Frontier’s shares soared 13.55 percent, trading up at $6.74 (2:46PM EDT) after the company announced its acquisition of AT&T’s (NYSE: T) Connecticut wireline operations. The full transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter.

With the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved Frontier of its acquisition of AT&T’s local wireline, broadband and video operations in Connecticut, the company is also currently seeking approval from Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) which already received approval from the Justice Department.
