To Grasp The Cultural Differences Between Apple And Samsung, Watch This

I could literally leave this post blank and let the ads speak for themselves. You would reach the same conclusion as me. Apple released the first ad below last week and while there is quite a nice amount of debate surrounding its message, I think we can all agree, the ad is done well and sparks what an ad should spark, emotion. See this piece for the other side of the praise Apple has received for this ad below:

Say what you want, this is a great and classy ad. Then there is the Samsung ad below!

First of all, Samsung, here is what you need to do. Find the guy who told you people have attention spans to watch a two and a half minute ad for your ridiculous smart watch. Find him and fire him. This ad is way WAY too long. But really, why are we nitpicking here when there are much bigger bones to pick?

What exactly are you trying to tell me here with this ad, Sammy? That if I wear your watch, I will get the girl. Excellent. So let’s discuss, first and foremost, who you are alienating in this ad, shall we? Women. Perfect. Married dudes. Excellent. Males with even the most basic level of intelligence who realize that women are not going to date you because you have a watch that makes awkward phone calls and takes crappy and dangerous pictures and videos on the ski slopes. Classic.

Remind me again who you are targeting with this ad. Oh, yes, the person who will believe that if he wears your watch, he will get a date with his dream girl. Um, not sure how to tell you this, Samsung, but that guy? He can’t afford your watch because he was never able to make it through a job interview.

In other words, I will be using this ad as a perfect example of how NOT to target and market to your audience. Appreciate that, Samsung.

None.
