Taking a Gain on Markel

Market Shadows booked a solid gain on our position in insurance company Markel (MKL). We sold our seven shares for $572.07 each this afternoon.

We bought these shares at $430.98 for $3016.86 late last year.  We received $4004.49 today for a 32.7% net profit.

This trade illustrates how even high-priced shares do not stop small investors from making good profits. It is the percentage gain that matters, not the number of shares you own.
