The average small cap score is 45.91 this week, below the four week moving average score of 46.47. The average small cap is trading -26% below its 52 week high, -4.02% below its 200 dma, and has 8.94 days to cover short.

Utilities continue to hold onto the top slot in our weekly sector ranking. Basic materials and industrial goods also score above average. Consumer goods score inline, with mid and small cap consumer scoring relatively better than large cap.

The highest scoring names in small cap from 1 year ago (5/9/2013) returned 804 bps more than the Russell 2000. The best performers have been GBX up 113%, CRZO up 111%, CIR up 69%, MRTN up 63%, and POL up 63%.

Today I used Barchart to sort the S&P 600 Small Cap Index stocks to find the stocks with the best current momentum. The stock that made the cut were DXP Enterprises (DXPE), EastGroup Properties (EGP), LTC Properties (LTC), Medical Properties Trust (MPW) and Ruby Tuesday (RT).
