December E-mini S&Ps (ESZ14 -1.19%) this morning are down -1.31% and European stocks are down -2.04% at a 13-1/4 month low as global stocks continue their downside correction.

December E-mini S&Ps (ESZ14 +0.24%) this morning are up +0.32% at a record high and European stocks are up +0.42% at a 2-3/4 month high after 55% of Scottish voters rejected independence and voted to remain in the UK.

Stocks ended last week on a high note, closing a smidge above strong resistance at 1900 for the S&P 500, which set a new closing high for the large-cap index, albeit on low pre-holiday volume.

Short sellers who thought a rough weekend in Ukraine might stir up the war drums again were wrong. In addition, China took several steps to boost its economy, and the domestic economic reports were fairly positive.
