Western Digital just bought a bunch of memory cards. The storage giant just announced that it has agreed to buy SanDisk Corp for about $19 billion. This comes after speculation that SanDisk was shopping for a buyer.

December E-mini S&Ps (ESZ14 -0.08%) this morning are down -0.16% ahead of the FOMC decision later today, and European stocks are up +0.16% on better-than-expected earnings results from Total SA and Schneider Electric SE.

Now that’s what I’m talking about. I have been discussing the overbought technical conditions of the S&P 500 for some time and the need for a pullback to test bullish support levels.

September E-mini S&Ps (ESU14 -0.59%) this morning are down -0.56% and European stocks are down -0.86%, both at 1-1/2 week lows, as company earnings results disappointed.

Once again, stocks have shown some inkling of weakness. But every other time for almost three years running, the bears have failed to pile on and get a real correction in gear. Will this time be different?
