Alibaba Faces “Its Most Dangerous Moment”

Ma should focus on improving AliExpress. Complaints everywhere you look. Terrible service.

Bitcoin Mining

How many rigs make up the pool controlling 51%? I can see the profitability of Bitcoin mining reaching an end in the near future, however, that would not spell the end of Bitcoin. I still feel there will be demand on the exchanges. Anyhow, thanks for the thought provoking article. It was interesting to see the numbers and game theory behind the decision making.

Will Crowdfunding Save Bitcoin?

Instead of Tox, there is a cryptocurrency that allows for encrypted chat and internet browsing. That currency is Xcurrency, and instead of sending payments via the traceable Bitcoin, you can send payments using Xcurrency, which offers completely anonymous transactions using trustless mixing. There are many different companies racing to capture that market, but for now, the horse I'm picking is Xcurrency.

Big Tobacco Launches A “Safer” Cigarette. It Won’t Stem The Decline

I believe the legalization of marijuana will be the ultimate savior of Big Tobacco. Most of the current marijuana companies are pump and dump scams. Once legalization happens in more states, I believe that large tobacco companies will enter the sphere; it seems to be a natural and easy transition for a tobacco company to make. I think that will ignite a significant uptick in revenue.

Identiv's Post Password Era Solutions Gaining Traction As Company Strengthens Its Financial Position

I actually did some more research as you suggested and what I found were multiple accounts of people being impressed with the complexity of the hacks. For example, Time Erlin, a director of IT security and risk strategy: "the thing that strikes me is the level of organization, the level of planning." Highly unlikely to just be a bunch of kids. Also found that the card information was being sold underground up to a million at a time for up to $100 a piece. Not exactly McDonald's money..

Interesting point Mike, and one that did not occur to me. It does seem unlikely that a hack of this magnitude could have been orchestrated by a bunch of "bored kids." It would take expertise and experience to pull off.

The Nasdaq Index Reached Its All-Time High 14 Long Years Ago And Now Might Finally Be Back

Enjoyed the article. If the all-time high is again reached a correction should be expected, but nothing near the 50% decline seen in the past. For the most part, the relative highs are here to stay.

And Now The Richest .01 Percent

The rich get richer, what else is new? Unfortunately that's the world we live in; where a small amount have more money than they can spend in a lifetime, whereas the overwhelming majority barely have enough to survive. The wealthy are the one's with the power to influence change, but this is not a change that would benefit them.

Retailers Say A Ton Of Customers Are Using Apple Pay - And Other Mobile Wallets Too
9 years ago

I wouldn't say Apple is onto something. They were far from the first to enter the space, in fact, they're pretty close to last. Google Wallet has been out for a while. Something superior as a mobile payment method would be adopting Bitcoin and the ability to pay with something as simple as a QR code. Apple's success is derived from their mindless cult following that will support anything apple, refusing to analyze the underlying technology.
