Today I used Barchart to sort the S&P 600 Small Cap Index stocks to find who were the YTD price gainers. Some have some steam left, and some are beginning to run out of steam.

After Solar City ran over the past couple days, I got a couple requests for a potential high-risk short squeeze/look-the-heck-out names. The following table highlights those with extreme short positions that truly make you go 'hmm'.

The best scoring sector across our 1,800 stock universe remains utilities. Basic materials has also moved above average in the past week (see later in this report). Industrial goods and consumer goods score in line with the average universe score.

For this report, utilities are the top scoring small cap sector and the best small cap industry is trucking.
